Lofted Day Bed with Gate

A local family needed a customized day bed for one of their children that has some special needs. They needed a safe secure place for him to be in their living room during the day. They also needed the mattress to be at an easy height for lifting him in and out.

We landed on this lofted day bed with a swing down gate in the front.  It is made from locally sourced ash which has a nice light color with a bold grain pattern.  I finished it with danish oil then some hand rubbed wax.
